Teaching How to Fish
and our Mission

Teaching how to fish is a not-for-profit organization, currently seeking 501(c)3 tax exemption, that encourages support for education based self-reliance programs in underdeveloped countries. Most charities and missionaries that work first hand in these areas are so engulfed in their work, that they often to not have the ability to raise money for themselves. Therefore, Teaching How to Fish functions solely as a fundraising entity for these organizations. Our complete list of organizations supported can be found on this website. By providing developmental aid, as opposed to humanitarian aid, we allow countries to raise themselves out of poverty. We hope to work alongside other organizations to educate the poor, whether it be general scholastics or trade-school oriented. The organization is politically non-biased and religiously non-denominational. The organization works to "help the poor help themselves."

Questions to ask yourself?

  • Am I the member of an unaffected country? Or am I the member of the global community?
  • Does the success of my country depend directly upon the success of another?
  • Shouldn't underdeveloped countries have the ability to select their own leaders, who can create solutions relevant to their society?
  • If educating young women would make them less likely to suffer from HIV/AIDS, child prostitution and sex trafficking, shouldn't I want to help?
  • If educating a country helps population control, and the world is growing overpopulated, doesn't education seem like a logical solution?
  • Does the vast population really want a far-off world power maintaining their life? Or do they want the ability to raise themselves out of poverty?
  • Why aren't I helping yet?
